We love Sundays here at Chez Taylor. Shite on Tv, Saturday Kitchen with James (for how much longer is anyone’s guess), cooked breakfast, lie-ins and doggy cuddles.

We’re going to continue our mission to spring clean the house. Yes, I’m well aware it’s August. Shut up.

We’ve made great progress so far clearing clutter and either selling things or donating. The sales have pretty much been funding my tattoo collection, which is coming along nicely. I’ve been having a lot of fun hanging out with Kevin Paul and his family recently. I do the photos, he does the ink. A good blend of talent.

I have secretly wished I was talented enough to be a tattoo artist my whole life, because I grew up with a super talented (and quite famous) uncle, Johnny Venus. He used to draw tattoo designs on my etch-a-sketch back in the day!!!!! And he did my first tattoo. My mother was traumatised. I was 27 for goodness sake!!!

I’m really enjoying Instagram these days. If you are there come follow me for daily photos and some funny stuff. @gilltaylor69

So, have a great Sunday. Remember to smile.

Love, Gill ❤️

So I finally did it. I finally braved the blonde. And I love it. I’ve wanted this look since I was 18 and in love with all things Roxette.

Hope you like it too.

I have to admit to being mentally drained with everything that’s currently going on. JT and I spent many long weekends away in Nice. We love that city. We know that city. The people, the bars and restaurants, the flower market, the harbour in the old town, travelling from the train station to Monaco and Cannes.

The terrorist attack that happened was a bit too close to our hearts for comfort.

I almost lost it last night when the military coup happened in turkey last night. Again, one of our favourite countries.

So what the hell is going on, dear reader. Because I don’t know. What I do know, or suspect, is that the evil among us aren’t finished. A good friend of mine stated that she wouldn’t now bring her children to any organised event. Whilst she recognised that meant terror had won, she said it just wasn’t worth the risk.

It’s sad. It’s not exactly the best era I’ve lived through (and that’s saying something, considering my background).

One can only hope our collective governments grow some balls and fight fire with fire. Because enough innocents have lost their lives in the name of a ‘god’.

Sorry for the rather depressing post. Here’s a photo of Elsie looking like a gimp.

Love and laughter, Gill

What a day.

Millie has been bothered by gunk in her right eye for a few days. It’s usually around this time of year and it’s allergies. We’ve been giving her eye drops and antihistamines.

Yesterday evening I noticed her eye was really badly swollen and the gunk was incredible.

I phoned the vets and made an appointment for this morning.

Well, it was BAD!!! The vet said he’d never seen an eye infection so bad. He operated to repair everything and so, tonight, she’s sleeping off the anaesthetic.

It’s worse than having kids!!!!

Here’s my wee patient xx

I spend a lot of time checking out tattoos. Whether on Instagram, twitter, facebook or the plain old Google Internet searchymabob.

I love tattoos. I got my first one 19 years ago this month. I got my second a week later. They’re addictive. And they hurt like nothing else on earth. I would rather have given birth to twins than have my back done again.

I’m having my sleeve added to next week. I’m very excited about it and can’t wait to show you all. In the meantime you can see the work so far.

Have you got tattoos?  Are you planning one? Or adding more??

Love, Gill xx

As I mentioned in my previous post I decided to add to my tattoo collection. I’ve spent a lot of time around various artists and in tattoo groups, so I’ve learned a bit of the inside track, the lingo, that sort of thing. Go on, ask me anything ?Every time I get into something I do it with passion. I decided a couple of years ago I wanted to be a tattoo collector and not just someone with tattoos.

I now have some stunning artwork that I can show or hide should I need to. Funerals. That sort of thing.

Pfffffft, whatever, I hear you say.

Well, I went and got me some new hair too.

It’s very liberating, getting rid of things that take up too much of your precious time. Short hair can be lovely too ❤️

Oh yeah. I wear glasses now too. OLD AGE!!! ?

Where to start.

It’s been a funny old few years.  I’ve taken some much needed time out from the business, and yes I will get onto that in upcoming posts.  I’ve added another pooch to the family.  I’ve fostered many beagles for Beagle Welfare.  We bought, used and sold a touring caravan, then bought and still have a static.  And yes, this does include old-people-fluffy slippers.  JT has just finished a long term contract and has started another one.  So, in the main, we’ve just been kinda ticking along.  Ticking along and living with depression.  More will follow on that.

I have decided that I am no longer going to shoot weddings.  TBH as much as I absolutely adore them, and get a real buzz on the day, there seemed to be a shift in client expectations over recent years, and not in a good way.  I’ve had some truly shit experiences.  Did I consider hanging up the cameras altogether?  Yes, absolutely.  But here I am.  My good friend Paul retrieved my blog from an archived server in the States, installed it in the UK and I’m back.  There are going to be changes, mostly because change is good for the soul.  The biggest shift you will see is a shift to portraits, portrait pricing, etc, with no wedding information.  I’m planning on properly resurrecting the business over the next couple of months, so I will be advertising for willing victims very soon. I will be focusing on short, on-location, shoots with families and family pets, as well as babies.

The other shift you will see is that I am going to be a proper blogger.  Rather like this post, I will be writing articles on any given subject that is relevant to me.  I’m hoping to gather some regular readers and I hope you enjoy dropping in.

That all said I think it is only fair that the lovely brides I’ve worked with deserve to have their wedding featured, so I will be sharing a small number of photos from each one on occasions.

Oh, did I mention I bought a T5 campervan?  I know, it’s ace.  And it’s called Cilla.

So for now, dear reader, I’ll head off and walk some dogs, clear the cobwebs and up my steps on my fitbit.
